Parents

Starting ABA therapy can feel like a big step — and we’re here to make it a little easier. At StarBright Centers, our goal is to help your family feel confident, supported, and informed from the very beginning. Whether you’re new to ABA or transitioning from another provider, we’ll walk beside you every step of the way.

OUR PROCESS.

We know starting ABA therapy can feel overwhelming. Our process is simple:

  1. Initial Consultation – We’ll listen to your story, learn about your child’s needs, and answer all your questions in a no-pressure conversation.

  2. Assessment – A BCBA will design a personalized treatment plan focused on your child’s strengths and goals.

  3. Therapy – Sessions take place in the environment that fits your child best — center, home, or school.

  4. Progress Reviews – We meet regularly to celebrate growth, update goals, and make sure your family always feels supported.

A PARTNERSHIP THAT GROWS WITH YOU.

What to Expect:
• Consistent communication from your therapy team.
• Data-driven progress tracking and parent input at every stage.
• Play-based, positive sessions that build confidence and joy.
• Ongoing collaboration between your family, your BCBA, and your child’s RBTs.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • We accept most major insurance plans, including TennCare MCOs, commercial, and private insurance. For most families, ABA therapy is fully covered with no out-of-pocket cost. We verify your specific plan on the first call and confirm what’s covered before any commitment.

  • We work with children and teens ages 2 to 17. Earlier is often easier, but ABA can help at any point. If you’re wondering whether your child is too old or too young, the answer is almost always no.

  • We offer three settings: at our Maryville clinic, in your home, and in your child’s school. Many families use a combination of all three. The right setting depends on your child’s goals and your family’s life.

  • Sessions usually run 1 to 3 hours, depending on age and goals. Older kids and teens often have shorter, more focused sessions. Younger kids often have longer ones with breaks built in.

  • Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is an evidence-based approach to therapy that helps children and teens build skills in communication, social interaction, learning, daily living, and emotional regulation. It works through small, structured practice in real-life settings, supported by data and adjusted as your child grows.

  • A formal diagnosis or referral helps, but you don’t need one to start the conversation. If your child is in active evaluation or you’re starting to ask questions, we can talk.

  • The first call is a free 1-on-1 phone consult. A real Board Certified Behavior Analyst will listen to your story, answer your questions honestly, and tell you whether ABA is the right next step for your family. No pressure, no commitment.

  • Your child will work with a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) for direct sessions, with a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) building and reviewing the plan. The BCBA assigned to your family stays with your family. We don’t rotate.

  • Yes. With your consent, we attend IEP meetings at your child’s school, share progress notes with the teacher, and help draft accommodation requests. Coordination with the school is part of the work, not an extra.

  • We serve families across all of East Tennessee, including Maryville, Knoxville, Alcoa, Lenoir City, Friendsville, Sevierville, Oak Ridge, and the wider Blount, Knox, Sevier, Loudon, and Anderson county areas.

  • There’s no waitlist. Tap “Book Your Free Consult” anywhere on the site to share a little about your family. A real BCBA will call you within one business day for a free 1-on-1 phone consult. From there, we’ll schedule your first visit.

  • Yes. Our BCBAs collaborate with teachers and school teams to ensure consistency in strategies, goals, and progress. We help your child succeed both in therapy and in the classroom.

  • Absolutely. Parent training is a cornerstone of our program. We provide ongoing coaching, hands-on demonstrations, and practical tools so families can confidently support learning and growth at home.

  • Your first visit is all about getting to know you and your child. You’ll meet with a BCBA who will learn about your child’s history, strengths, and challenges. Together, you’ll discuss goals and the next steps toward creating an individualized treatment plan.

  • We use data-driven methods and regular progress reviews to track your child’s growth. You’ll receive consistent updates and have opportunities to review goals, celebrate milestones, and adjust the treatment plan as needed.

  • While most of our clients have an autism diagnosis, ABA strategies can support a variety of developmental and behavioral needs. We’re happy to discuss your child’s specific situation during your consultation.
